I’ve been waiting for this to premiere since it was announced in 2017. I still watch Rocko’s Modern Christmas every Christmas Eve. Rocko’s Modern Life, the animated children’s television show that aired on Nickelodeon from 1993 to 1996, will add a prominent transgender storyline to its upcoming 45-minute. I’m still a little bitter that it was canceled back in 1996, as it was my favorite cartoon on Nickelodeon I remember watching the very last episode when it aired. Look, I know I’m a little biased when it comes to Rocko.
And it looks like it’s grown up with us, flinging itself into the 21st century and trying to figure out what this train wreck is. It’s still giving us a satirical look at society, albeit a little more blatant than when we were kids. It’s the same writers, the same voice cast, the same everything. Along with the Invader Zim movie, both were picked up by Netflix earlier in the year after Nickelodeon had. The Nickelodeon movie that Netflix picked up earlier in the year is now due for release on Netflix around the world on August 9th, 2019. It looks exactly like it always did–at least humor-wise. It looks like we’re finally getting the release of the Rocko’s Modern Life movie on Netflix.
