This would give you a nicely detailed external shell, with only the free surface being the low res/smooth part of the geometry, similar to the Apple commercial - I've no idea whether realflow gives you this kind of artistic control or whether it's just designed to do fluid sims. Houdini's biggest problem is that it's not particularly accessible, but it gives you a ton of flexibility to reshape the volume after performing the fluid sim & before skinning it - for example, you can do a relatively low res fluid sim on a rough model of the object you're filling, then perform a few volume operations to smooth out the resulting level set then perform an SDF intersection with a super high res SDF of the object you're filling. IIRC, this particular commercial was done in Houdini along with the iPhone 5 gold/white commercial that had a similar effect. Thanks!Įdit: I think the hardest part is just getting that really smooth mesh… does anyone have any pointers for creating something silky smooth like that? (aside from turning up the viscosity)
Realflow 2014 how to#
(planning on rendering in c4d with the rf mesh)Īlso if there are any tutorials or descriptions of how to go about this in RF2014, that would also be very helpful :)…Payed tutorials or free ones, doesn't matter. Is that the case? Would that pretty much be it? (Also, is it easy to make things have that dense viscosity like this video?)
Realflow 2014 manual#
I've been doing some reading of the online manual and it seems like fill object would do the trick. I'm assuming REALFLOW can handle this, but I was just wondering if its an easy operation in RealFlow 2014. Now we don't have any fluid simulation software so I'm doing some research to find a good solution. As a specific set of tools for rendering RealFlow fluids, it enables users to mesh particles. The RealFlow RenderKit 2014 has been released with Arnold renderer support in Maya and Softimage, RenderMan and Arnold procedurals compatible with Katana, and RFRKCloud supporting OpenVDB. My workplace has a client that wants a video very similar to this one by apple: RealFlow RenderKit 2014 Meshes Particles for Fluid Rendering. Posted this question in /r/realflow but that subreddit seems to be deserted in comparison to this one… CMIVFX (VFX Training with an emphasis on FX and simulation work).CGSociety (8 week courses focussing on key areas of VFX and digital art).Plural Sight(Formally 'Digital Tutors').
